Performance assessments of exhibitions, portfolios, and projects that explicitly link content mastery with skill proficiency are resulting in rigorous and relevant learning experiences. They require connecting prior knowledge, recent learning, and relevant skills to solve realistic, complex problems. Participants in this interactive multimedia session will discuss effective strategies for implementing performance assessments, observe exemplary practices captured in the ASCD video High Schools at Work, and learn ways to engage school stakeholders to adopt performance-based assessments.
