Formative assessment is assessment used to support learning. In this presentation, the author of the ASCD action tool, Formative Assessment Strategies for Every Classroom will present an overview of formative assessment. Then the presenters will introduce formative assessment strategies that can be used in every classroom, using handouts from the action tool. Participants will discuss the purpose of each strategy, role play its use in their own classroom, and discuss how it can support learning.
