Quality curriculum ought to be the right of every student in our schools. Quality curriculum that's a poor fit for particular students, however, is not likely to yield quality results for those students. Understanding by Design (UbD) is a model to help educators develop meaning-rich, high-level curriculum. Differentiated instruction (DI) is an instructional model to help teachers understand multiple paths to ensuring that each student has the opportunity and support to succeed with high-quality curriculum. This session will explore shared principles of UbD and DI and examine ways in which combining the models should enhance teacher and student success.
