This session will focus on how to create an environment that is culturally sensitive, encouraging, and supportive for African American and Hispanic parents. The presenter will discuss the first-year findings from the implementation of a Parental Involvement Center. The findings, based on interviews and surveys, reveal not only the parents' perspective regarding their lack of participation but also their suggestions for increasing involvement. The presenter will share effective and practical strategies to dramatically boost parent involvement in low-socioeconomic areas.
