Bullying, harassment, and student threats of violence disrupt the educational experience for significant numbers of American students, but many educators are unsure of the legal standards governing their responses to these issues. Parents of victimized students may look to the courts to hold teachers, administrators, and school districts accountable. This presentation will examine how schools and courts are and are not working together to achieve the best interests of students and families. Participants will be encouraged to predict the outcomes of actual court cases, and the court rulings will be analyzed.
