This session will describe interviews that were conducted with more than 25 school leaders in China, Mexico, and the United States using a set of questions developed from Howard Gardner's work on effective teachers and schools. Video footage reinforced the information gathered about topics such as what makes a great teacher, what students should learn, and how communities can help schools. The responses drive home a number of fundamental priorities that may need to be revived in our contemporary U.S. culture.
