While autistic children are increasingly mainstreamed into the public school environment, little curricular attention is paid to meeting their needs. A literacy curriculum program plan can be developed by adapting existing school resources and providing sensitivity training. This session will focus on ways that the school community can meet the literacy needs of primary-grade children with autism through welcoming facilities, inclusive learning activities, informed aid, and targeted training.
