ASCD convened a Commission on the Whole Child--comprising leading researchers and practitioners in child development, education, the arts, and health--to think about how we can educate the whole child and ensure that not only academic but also social, emotional, health, and creative needs are nurtured. The Commission was charged with recommending bold and visionary strategies that would put policies and supports in place to encourage a whole-child approach to learning and teaching. The Commission cochairs, as well as ASCD's Executive Director, will discuss the Commission's work and recommendations for schools, communities, and policymakers.
